Why do gardenias drop their buds?

Why do gardenias drop their buds?

1. Being exposed to the sun

Reason: When the weather is hot, gardenia cannot be placed in the sun. After being exposed to strong sunlight, it will drop its flower buds and cause yellow leaves.

Solution: It should be moved to a cooler location in time, away from direct sunlight, and should be placed where it cannot be exposed to direct sunlight. Also, you need to replenish water appropriately. However, it cannot be kept in a dark place for a long time. It is okay to expose it to light appropriately.

2. Too much watering

Reason: The plant needs water to maintain flowering, but watering should not be excessive. If there is too much water in the potting soil, its roots will not be able to breathe normally, and root rot will occur, causing the flower buds to fall off.

Solution: Watering should be moderate, as long as the soil in the pot is slightly moist, it does not need to be too humid. You should also spray water on the plants appropriately, which can also increase the humidity of the breeding environment. When it rains, be sure to take shelter from the rain.

3. Excessive fertilization

Reason: Appropriate amount of fertilization can promote flowering of the plant, but if the amount of fertilization is too much, the roots of the gardenia will be burned, which will cause the flower buds to fall.

Solution: Water it more to wash away the excess fertilizer in the soil, and then place it in a well-ventilated place. You can also replace the potting soil with new one, but be sure not to damage the roots of the plant when changing the soil.
