Bougainvillea is a relatively common household flower. It is easy to grow and has beautiful flowers, making it a must-have for those who enjoy flowers. However, it stands to reason that bougainvillea should bloom more vigorously in autumn, but I don’t know what happened to the pots in Huahua’s house. They just grew tall and didn’t bloom. It was really frustrating. After asking the neighbor who is an expert in growing flowers, I realized that there were problems in these three places. 1. Plenty of sunlightUnlike other flowering plants, bougainvillea is not afraid of long-term exposure to sunlight. If you want to make bougainvillea bloom, it is best to maintain 8 hours of light every day. Only in this way can bougainvillea absorb enough nutrients from the light, so that flowering will not be a problem. The suitable growth temperature of Bougainvillea is around 20 degrees, so flower lovers in the north are required to take good insulation measures in winter. 2. Control the amount of waterBougainvillea is not a water-loving plant. Except for watering it more often when the weather is hot in summer, you must learn to control the amount of water at other times. Especially before flowering. Generally, we start controlling water in September, and wait until the soil in the pot is completely dry before watering. This process takes about half a month, and you can resume normal watering after half a month. Remember not to apply fertilizer while controlling water, otherwise it may cause root rot and black rot. 3. Change pots regularlyBougainvillea is a flower that grows very fast, which means that as it grows, its root system will become larger and larger. At this time, it is best to change the potting soil once a year. Because the Bougainvillea potted plant is exposed to water for a long time, the soil will inevitably become compacted. At this time, it is impossible to provide enough nutrients to ensure the growth of Bougainvillea, so repotting becomes particularly important. In addition to repotting, we can also regularly remove the weeds in the pot to ensure the supply of nutrients. In addition to the three points mentioned above, you can also prevent the branches from growing too long by pruning them. Branch pruning is generally done in spring and autumn, cutting off rotten and insect-infested branches. This way, the growth rate of the branches will be more even, and it can ensure abundant flowering every year. If the bougainvillea in your home always grows tall but does not bloom like the one in Huahua's home, then you should check whether you have not taken good care of it in the following aspects. After correcting these aspects, I believe that the bougainvillea in your home will also bloom well. If you have any other tips to promote the flowering of bougainvillea, you are welcome to share them with Huahua! |
