What to do if the leaves of water bamboo turn yellow

What to do if the leaves of water bamboo turn yellow

1. Root pruning and replanting

Reason: If the root system of water bamboo is damaged, it will affect its absorption of nutrients. Failure to absorb enough nutrients will cause the leaves of the plant to turn yellow.

Solution: Remove the water bamboo from the substrate, check the roots, find the black and rotten roots and cut them off. Then place it in new medium for curing.

2. Add fertilizer

Cause: This situation is similar to the previous one, and both are due to insufficient nutrients causing the leaves of water bamboo to turn yellow. The difference is that the previous one is an internal cause, while this one is an external cause. Because water bamboo has not been fertilized for a long time, it is difficult for it to absorb enough nutrients, resulting in yellow leaves.

Solution: Add some nutrient solution or fertilizer to the water in an appropriate amount. The concentration must not be too high, and do not add too much at one time, otherwise it will cause seedling burn.

3. Increase lighting

Reason: If water bamboo is placed in a place that is too shaded for a long time and it is difficult for it to be exposed to sunlight, it will be difficult for it to carry out photosynthesis to synthesize nutrients. The leaves lack nutrients and naturally cannot grow normally and synthesize chlorophyll, so they will turn yellow.

Solution: Change its maintenance location and place it in a sunny place. However, be careful not to place it in a place with too strong sunlight, otherwise its leaves will easily be burned.
