What to do if the leaves of golden diamond turn black

What to do if the leaves of golden diamond turn black

1. Proper watering

Reason: Although the golden diamond plant likes moisture, it is not tolerant to waterlogging, so you need to be careful when watering. Excessive watering can easily cause water accumulation and lead to root rot. If you water too little, the water will not reach the bottom of the potting soil and the roots will lack water. Both of these conditions can cause the leaves to turn black.

Solution: The temperature is high in summer, so you need to water it every other day, and spray water mist on its branches and leaves every morning and evening to keep it moist. When temperatures are low, water once or twice a week. Observe the soil condition before watering each time. If the soil in the pot is dry, you can water it. If it is moist, there is no need to water it for the time being.

2. Appropriate topdressing

Reason: The growing season of golden diamond is in summer, and the demand for nutrients is relatively high at this time. If the nutrients cannot keep up, the leaves will turn black.

Solution: During the growth period of the golden diamond, fertilize once a week. It is best to use compound fertilizer. This fertilizer is sufficient in nutrients and diversified in nutrients to meet the growth needs of the golden diamond. During the dormant period, fertilizing once a month is sufficient.

3. Adjust the soil

Reason: The golden diamond is suitable for growing in acidic and fertile soil. If the soil is alkaline and hard soil, its leaves will turn black.

Solution: You can mix it with leaf mold, which can turn alkaline soil into acidic soil. Usually, you should test the pH value of the soil more often. If the index is greater than 7, it is alkaline soil, and you can use the above method to adjust the soil.

4. Increase Lighting

Reason: The golden diamond likes warmth and tolerates partial shade. Many people think that plants that tolerate partial shade do not need light. In fact, plants that tolerate partial shade also need light, at least six hours of natural diffused light a day. If this is not met, the leaves will turn black.

Solution: Allow the golden diamond to receive six hours of natural light every day. When the sun is strong, provide appropriate shade to avoid burning the branches and leaves.
