Lucky bamboo is a very suitable plant for hydroponics. If you want hydroponic flower plants to take root smoothly, you need to master some techniques. So how do you grow lucky bamboo so that it can grow roots more vigorously in hydroponics? Let’s learn more about it below. 1. Water quality requirements When hydroponically cultivating lucky bamboo or other flowers and plants, it is best to use cold boiled water, mineral water or tap water that has been left to dry for 2 days. Before the lucky bamboo takes root, replace the water with clean water every 2 to 3 days. 2. Trimming The branches of lucky bamboo must be pruned before they can be hydroponically cultivated. Remove the dense leaves at the bottom and cut the base of the stem into an inclined plane to increase the plant's water absorption area. If the base incision is not recut, it is generally not easy to take root. 3. The water is not full When hydroponically cultivating lucky bamboo, do not add too much water. Generally, depending on the height of the cultivation container, it is enough to add water to a depth of about 8 to 10 cm. Then add water after the water level drops. If the water level is too deep, it will affect the normal breathing of the plant, and the leaves will easily turn yellow over time. 4. Soak in rooting liquid Before pruning lucky bamboo for hydroponics, soak it in prepared rooting liquid for 30 minutes, or apply rooting powder on the roots and leave it for half an hour before hydroponics. 5. Aspirin You can also soak the lucky bamboo in aspirin solution, or sprinkle some aspirin powder in the hydroponic bottle. Aspirin contains a large amount of salicylic acid, which can help the lucky bamboo take root quickly. 6. Willow branches and leaves You can also collect some young branches of willow trees , chop or crush them, and soak them in water. When preparing for hydroponics, soak the lucky bamboo in it to help it take root. 7. Scattered light Lucky bamboo is very shade-tolerant and does not like strong sunlight exposure. Choose a place with slightly scattered light for them so that they can photosynthesize better. In this way, lucky bamboo will find it easier to take root and thrive in this environment. 8. Supplement nutrients The growth of water-cultured lucky bamboo is generally much worse than that of soil-cultured lucky bamboo, because the nutrients in the water are limited, and water-cultured lucky bamboo needs regular fertilization to supplement nutrients. If the plant does not receive nutrient supplement for a long time, it will become malnourished and its rooting will be affected. When growing lucky bamboo hydroponically, add a few drops of plant nutrient solution to the new water every time you change the water. Or you can put rusty iron nails or iron blocks directly in the water to promote plant rooting. That’s it |
