Crooked fleshySucculents are the plants that are most likely to grow crooked. Insufficient sunlight and overly loose soil can cause them to grow crooked. Phototropic head tilt Succulents are phototropic plants and follow the direction of the sun when growing. Therefore, succulents will tilt their heads toward the sunny side. Solution: Rotate the flower pot regularly so that every angle of the succulent can receive light, rotating it 180 degrees every other day. Top-heavy head tilt Sometimes the crooked head of a succulent is caused by its own reasons. Some succulents tend to grow too tall, their branches and trunks become woody, their heads are big and their feet are light, and they can easily tilt to the side. Solution: Depending on the degree of the tilt, you can place stones on the tilted side for support, or you can insert a small wooden stick into the soil and tie it to the succulent to help it grow straight. Too loose soil causes head tilt The soil used by flower lovers to care for succulents is mostly loose and light soil. This kind of soil is no problem in the early stages of succulent growth, but as the succulents grow, the soil will sink and the succulents will become crooked. Solution: You can choose nutrient soil with a heavier texture, or use medical stone or other materials to increase the weight. Beheading Sometimes, when succulents grow too tall and can no longer be adjusted, they need to undergo a "beheading" operation. 1. Use a sterilized knife to cut off the entire head of the succulent. The overgrown stems can be left to a desired length according to your preference. 2. After about 20 days, new leaves will emerge on the remaining stems. 3. Don’t throw away the cut head. Put it in a new pot and it can continue to take root and survive. Crooked-leaf CliviaThe reason why Clivia's leaves grow crooked is mostly due to its phototropism. More auxin accumulates on the side facing away from the light, so the leaves will tilt toward the side facing away from the light. Adjust direction Adjust the direction of the Clivia flower pot regularly. During the peak growth period, turn it once every 7 days, and once every 10 days during the slow growth period, turning it 180 degrees each time. Tool-assisted adjustment If the leaves of the Clivia are too crooked, you will need to use other tools to assist in adjustment. Clip adjustment method: 1. Prepare a few small clothespins (or other clips) and a few thick pieces of paper. 2. Use a clip to clip the crooked leaf together with the adjacent leaf, and use paper to separate the clip and the leaf to avoid damaging the leaf. Paper adjustment method: 1. Prepare a few paper clips and a few pieces of thick opaque paper that are about the same length as the leaves of the Clivia. 2. Fold it in half, cover the side facing the light, and clamp it with a paper clip. After about 10 days, the leaves will turn right side up. Crooked GardeniaWoody plants such as gardenia are also prone to having branches and leaves grow toward one side due to their phototropism, which can easily cause the plant to lose its ornamental value. Rotating flower pots If the tilt angle of the gardenia is not too large and the situation is not serious, you can adjust it by rotating the flower pot. Rotate the flower pot 180 degrees every 10 days or so. Pruning plants If the leaf crown of the gardenia is tilted greatly and it is difficult to adjust it by turning the flowerpot, you can prune the plant to adjust it. 1. Use scissors to cut off the branches that are too long on the side and cut the crown of the gardenia leaves into a more symmetrical shape. 2. Use the cut branches for cuttings, and the flowers will never be wasted~ Pole support If the trunk of the gardenia is crooked during its growth, it will need to be adjusted with the help of tools. Gardenias with short trunks and large leaf crowns can be adjusted with the help of the circular support rod in the picture above. Gardenias with smaller leaf crowns can be directly tied to the gardenia by inserting a straight wooden pole into the flowerpot. Have the flowers in your home ever had crooked necks?
