What to do if the fortune tree is frozen

What to do if the fortune tree is frozen

1. Increase the temperature

Wilting and yellowing leaves are likely a sign of frostbite. One of the main reasons for freezing is that the temperature is too low. The first thing to do is to move it indoors or to a greenhouse. The temperature must at least be above the humidity to ensure its normal life. In addition, not only is the indoor temperature high, but the temperature difference between day and night is also much smaller.

2. Condition the soil

People who grow flowers know that when watering plants in winter, the amount of water must be controlled and not too much, otherwise the roots will easily freeze. Since the money tree has been frozen, the water content should be reduced when it is moved indoors to relieve the cold. The humidity of the soil should not be too high. If the roots are soaked in water for a long time, they will not only absorb heat but also be more susceptible to freezing, which the roots cannot withstand.

3. Lighting and ventilation

Placing it indoors does not mean that it will be deprived of sunlight. The green plants’ love for sunlight cannot be ignored. When the indoor temperature is above 15 degrees, move the money tree to a sunny room near the window. Windows not only let in light, but are also very good for ventilation when appropriate.

4. Keep dry

Dry air is also a good relief environment for the frozen money tree, which is beneficial to its growth and self-repair. In addition, many people think that green plants can purify the air and place them in places with heavy smoke, which is absolutely not allowed. In the north, there are stoves and kangs burning indoors. Be careful not to let them be harmed by smoke, otherwise it will cause problems such as yellowing of the leaves, and the problem to be solved is not just the cold.

5. Prune when the time comes

We have mentioned before that money trees cannot be pruned in winter because the nutrient supply is insufficient and the plant consumes a lot of nutrients. But what happens after frostbite is a different matter. In order to prevent the failure of growing new buds, you have to wait until new branches grow out, then cut off the old branches that have been frozen, and leave the ones with strong growth momentum for maintenance.
