What to do if the leaves of gardenia curl

What to do if the leaves of gardenia curl

1. Cause Analysis

1. First, consider the daily cultivation process and experience of your own gardenia from the time you buy it to the time it curls up. It is very likely caused by lack of water. When watering it, the water should be replenished thoroughly, but there should be no water accumulation, and the watering should not be too frequent.

2. Most of the purchased flower seedlings come from greenhouses, and the sudden change of environment will make them unable to adapt. Especially in autumn and winter, the temperature and humidity in the greenhouse are very high, evaporation is relatively high, and moisture and temperature are not guaranteed, which will cause leaf curling problems.

2. Solution

1. Use the immersion basin method to replenish water

Prepare a relatively large basin, fill it with water, and put the flower pot in it. The water level in the large basin should be lower than the surface soil of the flower pot. The water will slowly seep into the soil along the mouth of the basin, achieving the purpose of watering thoroughly. Do not water directly from above, otherwise it will not only be difficult to water all the soil layers but also easily lead to water accumulation, especially in winter, this situation should be avoided as much as possible. Place the flower pot in water overnight and take it out the next day. The plants will gradually get better after being watered in this way. The frequency of watering will then depend on the dryness of the topsoil. Water should be added when the soil becomes dry.

2. Simulate the greenhouse environment

After adding water using the immersion pot method, use a spray bottle to sprinkle water on the leaves, then cover them with a plastic bag. You can also use plastic film instead. This can simulate the moisture, humidity and temperature in the greenhouse and reduce sudden changes in the environment. As water evaporates less and the temperature rises, all you have to do is wait for it to slowly recover.

3. Accept light

After putting on the bag, move the potted plant to a warm area with light, avoiding direct sunlight and exposure, but ensuring good ventilation. If it is winter, you can place it near an indoor window.
