What to do if the leaves of black leaf Guanyin lotus are rotten

What to do if the leaves of black leaf Guanyin lotus are rotten

Why does this happen?

There may be many different factors that cause this phenomenon. We mainly summarize them as follows:

First, the plants may have been attacked by pests and diseases. For example, there is a disease called "gray mold" that will attack plants. Spots may first appear on the edges or tops of the affected leaves, and then gradually spread to the middle. If the humidity increases at this time, the leaves will rot. In addition, pests such as aphids can also cause similar phenomena.

The second reason is that too much fertilizer is applied to the plants. The concentration of fertilizer in the container is too high, so the plants will naturally be attacked by fertilizer damage. In this case, the leaves may also rot.

Third, it may be that too much water was poured, causing root rot, which in turn caused leaf rot.

Prevention and control measures

First, we should deal with the rotten leaves. First remove the plant from the soil and cut off any rotten parts with a sterilized knife. The soil also needs to be processed. Put it in the sun to dry, then mix it with water to make it half wet, and then transplant the plants. Note: don't water it at this time. Wait until the soil is completely dry before watering.

Secondly, we should formulate specific measures based on the specific reasons mentioned above. If it is a disease or insect pest, there are special pesticides to prevent and control it, so I won’t go into details. If too much fertilizer is applied, it should be applied reasonably. Considering that plants don’t really need it on a normal basis, the frequency must be controlled. If it is the third reason, deal with it the same as the second reason, just control watering and wait until the soil in the pot is completely dry before watering again.

We should also find ways to improve the resistance of plants, such as choosing suitable soil, getting adequate sunlight and so on.
