What to do if the lipstick flower does not bloom or drops buds

What to do if the lipstick flower does not bloom or drops buds

Improper application of water and fertilizer for lipstick flower

If improper water and fertilizer are applied to the lipstick flower, it will not bloom or may even drop buds.

Generally, during the growth period of lipstick flower, if there is excessive water and fertilizer, and excess nutrition, it will cause the plant to grow too tall, the flowers will grow poorly, and the differentiation of flower buds will be affected, causing it not to bloom, or to bloom less, and the buds will easily fall off; while too little water and fertilizer will cause the plant to grow poorly, and may cause the lipstick flower to not bloom. Secondly, this phenomenon is also likely to occur when too much nitrogen fertilizer is applied and there is a lack of phosphorus fertilizer; when the air is relatively dry, buds are also prone to falling.

Therefore, when cultivating lipstick flowers, you need to pay attention to the management of water and fertilizer, and fertilization requires the reasonable use of fertilizers of various elements.

The light temperature of lipstick flower is not suitable

Inappropriate light and temperature will also affect flowering.

Lipstick flowers prefer a warm and bright growing environment. When there is insufficient light, the plant will grow too tall and the flowering rate will be reduced. Temperature is also an important factor and needs to be kept within a reasonable range. Even if the plant is not cold-resistant in winter, the temperature cannot be too high. Excessively high temperature will cause it to germinate and grow prematurely, and there will not be enough nutrients for flowering next year, so it will not bloom.

Therefore, when growing lipstick flowers, be careful not to keep them too hidden and the temperature must be kept within an appropriate range.

The soil used for lipstick flowers is not suitable

Lipstick flowers prefer slightly acidic or neutral soil and are afraid of saline-alkaline soil. If the soil used has a high salt and alkali content, it will affect its flowering, and in severe cases it may cause the death of the plant.

Other factors that cause lipstick flowers not to bloom

The lipstick plant lacks pruning, and its branches are numerous and messy, which will consume nutrients and result in few or no flowers.

If the lipstick flower encounters diseases and insect pests, it will also cause the flowers and buds to fall off.

Therefore, during the maintenance of lipstick flowers, timely pruning and prevention of diseases and pests are very important.
