As we all know, crops need to be supplemented with various fertilizers during their growth period. If a certain fertilizer is not applied properly or is applied too much, it will have adverse effects. Let’s learn together what fertilizer is best for growing peanuts? 1. Base fertilizer The application of peanut basal fertilizer is very critical because it can provide the necessary nutrients for the entire growth cycle of peanuts. Base fertilizer is usually applied all at once before sowing when plowing and tilling the land to meet the fertilizer demand throughout the entire growing period. Especially phosphorus fertilizer, all of it should be applied in the base fertilizer. 2. Organic fertilizer Applying an appropriate amount of organic fertilizer, such as decomposed farmyard manure or commercial organic fertilizer, can improve soil structure, increase soil organic matter content and improve soil fertility. 3. Fertilizer It is recommended to use balanced compound fertilizers , such as potassium sulfate compound fertilizer with a nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium (NPK) ratio of 15-15-15, with a dosage of about 30-40 kilograms per mu. 4. Trace element fertilizer The trace elements that peanuts need include boron and molybdenum, which are essential for the nitrogen fixation of peanuts. Boron can promote the transport of carbohydrates and provide energy for nitrogenase, while molybdenum fertilizer is directly involved in the nitrogen metabolism of peanut plants. 5. Topdressing Peanuts generally do not need top dressing after applying sufficient base fertilizer, especially peanuts grown under film covering. However, in areas with poor soil fertility or insufficient base fertilizer, topdressing can be carried out in combination with tillage and soil cultivation before planting the peanuts in the seedling stage, depending on the growth conditions of the peanuts. 6. Nitrogen fertilizer During the flowering stage of peanut growth, you can apply an appropriate amount of nitrogen fertilizer, such as 8-10 kg of urea per mu, to promote seedling growth. 7. Phosphorus and Potassium Fertilizers During the peanut pod-setting stage, you can apply balanced compound fertilizer or high-nitrogen and high-potassium water-soluble fertilizer solution to promote the formation and fullness of the pods. 8. Foliar topdressing During the peanut pod-setting and maturity stages, foliar topdressing can be used by spraying balanced or high-nitrogen and high-potassium water-soluble fertilizer solutions to prevent premature aging, promote the formation of full pods, and increase yield. 9. Fertilization principles Peanut is a leguminous crop with the ability to fix nitrogen, so the amount of nitrogen fertilizer applied should take into account the soil nitrogen supply and the amount of nitrogen fixed by root nodules. In general, for soils with medium to low fertility levels, rhizobium nitrogen fixation can provide half of the nitrogen supply, while for high-yield cultivation and summer peanuts, rhizobium nitrogen fixation only provides one-third. Peanuts are very sensitive to phosphorus, and the effect of increasing phosphorus fertilizer is significant. The amount of phosphorus fertilizer applied should be determined based on the soil phosphorus content and peanut yield level. 53 Potassium fertilizer: The application amount of potassium fertilizer should be adjusted according to the growth requirements of peanuts and soil conditions. In summary, the fertilization plan for peanuts should combine basal fertilizer, topdressing and foliar topdressing, while taking into account the growth stage of peanuts and soil conditions, and reasonably matching organic fertilizers and chemical fertilizers, as well as necessary trace element fertilizers, to achieve high yield and high quality of peanuts. When growing peanuts, the rational use of fertilizers is crucial to improving the yield and quality of peanuts.
