Common diseases of tiger flower: root rot

Symptoms of root rot of tiger flower

It mainly harms seedlings, but can also cause disease in adult plants. In the early stage of the disease, only individual lateral roots and fibrous roots are affected, and the disease gradually spreads to the main root. After the main root is affected, the plant does not show symptoms in the early stage. Later, as the degree of root rot increases, the function of absorbing water and nutrients gradually weakens. The aboveground part is in short supply of nutrients, and the new leaves turn yellow first. When the light is strong and the evaporation is large around noon, the upper leaves of the plant begin to wilt, but they can recover at night. When the disease is serious, the wilting condition cannot be recovered at night, and the leaves of the whole plant turn yellow and wither. At this point, the root bark turns brown and separates from the pith, and finally the whole plant dies.

Prevention and control methods of root rot of tiger flower

The root rot of tiger face flower can be controlled by using copper preparations or metalaxyl and carbendazim. When the disease occurs: metalaxyl, carbendazim or copper preparations can be used for root irrigation. Timely prevent and control the damage caused by underground pests and nematodes.

Common diseases of tiger flower: stem rot

Symptoms of Tiger Flower Stem Rot

The stem rot of tiger face flower is a disease caused by fungi, which mainly harms the base of the stem or the underground main lateral roots. The diseased part is dark brown at first, and then spreads around the base of the stem, causing the cortex to rot, the above-ground leaves to turn yellow and wilt, and the whole plant to die in the later stage. Dark brown sclerotia of varying sizes are often formed on the surface of the diseased part.

Prevention and control methods of tiger flower stem rot

In the early stage of the disease, spray 1000 times diluted 38% cypermethrin, 800 times diluted 30% carbendazim/carbendazim, or 500 times diluted thiram on the susceptible varieties. The best way to prevent and control stem rot is to sterilize the growing medium at high temperature.
