Common diseases and pests of Scutellaria barbata and their control

Common symptoms and prevention of Scutellaria barbata

The pathogens mostly invade the base of the rhizomes of seedlings from the surface soil. When the plants are infected, the diseased parts rot and the seedlings fall over. If the seedling tissue begins to lignify, it will die immediately. The affected part is sunken and constricted, and appears dark brown. When it is moist, white mycelium grows from the diseased area. When the disease occurs seriously, a large number of seedlings die.

Prevention and control methods: Keep the seedlings dry within 10 to 20 days after they emerge from the soil. Soil disinfection should be carried out in the early stage of seedling disease. Mix 4 wettable powders in equal amounts and spread on the soil.

Rust disease of Scutellaria barbata and its control

The main damage to the barbata spatholobi is the leaves. The back of the leaves of the affected plants will have yellow-brown spots. In severe cases, the leaves will turn yellow, curl up and fall off.

Prevention and control methods: In the early stage of the disease, sodium disulfide (with a small amount of laundry detergent) can be sprayed once every 7 to 10 days for 2 to 3 times.

Diseases and prevention of Scutellaria barbata

It is prone to occur in hot and rainy seasons, with dark spots like water stains appearing on the leaves, followed by wilting and drooping.

Prevention and control methods: Spray Bordeaux liquid or dichlorodiphenyltrichloroethane solution in the evening for prevention and control.
