Disease and Pest Control of Water Lily

Disease and Pest Control of Water Lily

Main diseases

Rot

The pathogens of this disease are likely to appear on existing wounds, perhaps those caused by previous insect bites or other diseases. However, there are generally disease-resistant varieties for this disease, so try to choose disease-resistant varieties, which can greatly reduce the probability of the disease occurring. You should also pay more attention to daily maintenance to prevent the disease from occurring due to hot water or excessive water.

Leaf rot

The symptoms of this disease are naturally that the leaves gradually rot and the plant cannot grow normally. All diseased plants should be destroyed when harvesting in the previous year to reduce the possibility of the plants becoming diseased in the second year. Once the symptoms are found, spray the pesticide immediately, such as a certain dose of carbendazim. Do it once every 10 days or so, a total of 2-3 times will be enough.

Main pests

Small firefly leaf beetle

This is definitely a "devastating" pest that usually occurs in summer. During this time, the insects will attack the leaves and stems of the flowers, and the flower color may become dull. Once this kind of insect is found, the leaves should be washed with water immediately, and then some insecticide should be sprayed appropriately. When the disease and insect infestation is serious, it is best to remove the entire insect-infested leaf to prevent insect eggs from being left behind.

Snails

If you encounter this type of insect, you can mix dichlorodiphenyltrichloroethane and wood chips evenly, then put the powder and wood chips into a cloth bag, and tie the bag directly on the petiole to spread the liquid medicine. This way, the liquid medicine can kill these insects without harming the plants. If conditions permit, you can choose to place the loach directly on the water surface.
