What to do if golden sedge has insects?

What are those bugs at the bottom of the golden sedge?

In a humid environment, insects often appear in golden sedge in the summer. The black ones are small black flies, and the white ones are scale insects.

Little Black Fly

They are mainly concentrated on the surface of the leaves, densely packed and very conspicuous. After a period of time, the golden sedge will gradually wilt and eventually die.

Scale insects

Scale insects have a strong reproductive capacity and will quickly cover every part of the plant, causing poor air and light permeability, eating juice, causing wounds, and causing fungal diseases.

Golden Millennium Grass Pest Control Methods

Disinfection in time

When insects are found, remove the plant from the pot in time, rinse it with slow water, and clean the insects. Then disinfect the soil and flower pots and replant them. However, the best way is to plan ahead and disinfect all tools that come into contact with the golden sedge before planting or when repotting every year. The easiest way is to place the soil and pot in a warm place.

Spraying

This is an attack on the bugs. However, in most cases, no matter how well the preliminary disinfection work is done, it is impossible to eliminate insect eggs 100%. The air and water both carry some bacteria, so spraying disinfectants is necessary.

If there are children at home or the balcony is not well ventilated, it is recommended to take the plants outdoors and spray the medicine. After spraying, cover them with plastic bags for a period of time to facilitate the effectiveness of the medicine.

Root irrigation

After spraying the plant surface, you can water the potting soil with a relatively higher concentration of insecticide. This step is to kill the nymphs and adults in the potting soil and attached to the roots with poison.
