How Succulents Died

How Succulents Died

Death by art

Many people and even many shops like to keep succulents in glass covers, which gives a fresh and artistic feeling! There are three consequences: 1. Air cannot flow; 2. The temperature inside the bottle is too high; 3. The humidity inside the bottle is too high after watering. Any of these will cause the succulent to die.

Killed by the office

Succulents are indeed very good desktop plants! However, if you keep succulents in the office for a long time, their roots will rot until they become waterlogged and turn black. You can take the plant to a sunny place every 2-3 days to dry it for a day or two, and then put it back on your desk.

Suffocated

The first thing most people do after getting a plant is to dig the soil, especially around a large tree, to find some black fertile soil for planting. This is really good for native plants, but it's murder for succulents. 1. Succulents are alien species and have no resistance to insect eggs or larvae in the soil in the native wild environment. 2. The air permeability of fertile soil is very poor. If water is stored for a long time, the soil will be wet for 4-5 days under normal circumstances. The roots of succulents will rot quickly, and then the leaves will turn black.

Died in the sand

The sand you can see now is basically fine sand, and the moisturizing effect under the sand is amazing! Moreover, sand has a very good heat conduction effect, which causes the roots of succulents planted on it to become damp and hot, and the roots will soon rot, followed by the terrible black rot.

Being poured to death

Many people buy succulents and hope they grow quickly, so they water them every day, but they die within two days. The reason is simple, the soil is too humid and the roots are soaked to death.

Died of drought

Succulents are drought-tolerant, not drought-loving. These are two completely different concepts! Their original growing environment lacks water, so they are drought-resistant. When there is water, they will definitely grow better than when there is no water! Most of the Crassulaceae succulents we currently grow come from Mexico rather than the South African desert, and they all need a lot of water. So if you treat succulents as cacti, they will die soon!
