What to do if the leaves of Cymbidium orchid turn yellow

What to do if the leaves of Cymbidium orchid turn yellow

1. Increase lighting

Reason: If the Cymbidium is placed in a cool, dark place for a long time during maintenance, the leaves will turn yellow due to lack of light, and in severe cases the leaves may even wither and fall off.

Solution: If you find this situation, move the plant to a place with scattered light as soon as possible so that it can receive sunlight. It is best to place it on an indoor balcony, but be careful to block out strong light.

2. Increase humidity

Reason: It needs a high humidity environment to grow. If it is maintained in an indoor environment with too low humidity, it will easily have yellow leaves.

Solution: Use a spray bottle to spray water around the plant several times a day to increase the humidity, or increase the amount of water appropriately and add more water.

3. Control temperature

Reason: Although it has some cold resistance, it will easily go into dormancy prematurely when the temperature drops below 5 degrees, and the leaves will easily turn yellow.

Solution: If the yellow leaves are caused by temperature, they should be removed in time and the temperature should be controlled, preferably maintained between 15 and 22 degrees, so that it will recover soon.

4. Reduce fertilization

Reason: If too much fertilizer or too high a concentration is applied during maintenance, it will burn the roots, causing the leaves to turn yellow and dry up.

Solution: If the problem is caused by fertilizer, stop fertilizing. If it is serious, check the root system. If there is rot, change the pot and soil. In the later stage, pay attention to applying small amounts of fertilizer and combine it with watering.
