What to do if wintersweet root rots

What to do if wintersweet root rots

1. Prevention methods

1. Water appropriately

Reason: Wintersweet is afraid of waterlogging, so if it is overwatered, it will cause root rot due to inability to absorb water. If the soil is too moist or water accumulates, it will not only affect its growth, but also cause root rot.

Solution: Water the plant in moderation at normal times. No need to water when the soil is moist. It is best to keep the soil slightly dry. Be sure to water thoroughly when watering. When the temperature is high, you can water more appropriately. In addition, take appropriate drainage measures in the rainy season.

2. Reasonable fertilization

Reason: Excessive fertilization or too high fertilizer concentration will cause root burn and leaf fall, and will seriously affect its normal growth.

Solution: Apply fertilizer in moderation. It is not suitable to apply concentrated fertilizer. Generally, apply phosphorus and potassium fertilizers, and apply less nitrogen fertilizer. Appropriate amount of fertilizer can help it grow better and also help it bloom.

3. Adjust the temperature

Reason: If the temperature of the breeding environment is low, its growth will slow down, and its ability to absorb water and nutrients will be weakened. It will rot its roots due to waterlogging or fertilizer damage.

Solution: Adjust the temperature appropriately. The temperature should not be lower than -15℃. If the outdoor temperature is low, keep it indoors in winter.

2. Rescue Methods

After the roots rot, they should be removed from the potting soil in time, the soil should be cleaned up, and then the rotten parts should be cut off with scissors, and soaked and disinfected with potassium permanganate to avoid secondary infection. Prepare suitable soil and replant.
