What to do if the roots of aphid are rotten

What to do if the roots of aphid are rotten

1. Replace the soil

Reason: The soil in the Aspidistra pot is not breathable, so the roots cannot breathe normally. Once the roots are deprived of oxygen, it will easily lead to root rot.

Solution: You can replace the potting soil with one that has good air permeability and loosen the soil from time to time to help the Aspidistra grow better.

2. Reduce watering

Reason: Too much watering on a daily basis will make the soil too moist. Coupled with the airtight environment, the moisture will be stored in the potting soil. The roots of the Aspidistra cannot breathe, and root rot will occur.

Solution: Ensure sufficient water, but no water accumulation. To ensure that the soil in the pot is moist, you can spray water on the leaves frequently. Reduce the amount of watering in autumn and winter. Keep the soil in the pot slightly dry in winter. You can stop watering according to the situation.

3. Increase the temperature

Reason: The low temperature in winter will cause it to be frozen. Aspidistra has relatively weak cold resistance, and its roots will rot if it is kept in a low temperature environment for a long time.

Solution: In winter, the breeding temperature should be appropriately increased, and the minimum should not be lower than 5℃. You can also place it directly indoors to prevent frostbite.

4. Apply fertilizer appropriately

Reason: If you frequently apply large amounts of fertilizer or high-concentration fertilizer, it will be difficult for the Aspidistra to absorb it. Similar situations may also occur if you apply raw fertilizer to it, which may burn the roots and cause root rot.

Solution: Control the amount of fertilizer applied and do not apply too much fertilizer at one time. Generally, apply a thin layer of cake fertilizer water once a week. It is best to stop fertilizing it when the temperature is lower in winter.
