How to deal with rhododendron root rot

How to deal with rhododendron root rot

1. Remove the plant

Regardless of whether the azalea's root rot is serious or not, you must first remove it from the potting soil, and then clean its roots with clean water so that you can check the rotten parts more quickly and then take appropriate measures. Be careful when cleaning to avoid new wounds.

2. Prune rotten roots

After washing the roots of the azalea with water, use sterilized scissors to cut off the rotten roots. After pruning, soak them in potassium permanganate for a while, about 30 minutes.

3. Replace the potting soil

While soaking the roots of the azalea, clean the old soil in the flowerpot, disinfect the flowerpot, place it in a ventilated place to dry, and then fill the pot with suitable soil.

4. Replanting

The soaked azalea needs to be replanted in new potting soil. Be careful, water it with an appropriate amount, and place it in a ventilated and cool place for maintenance. No fertilizer is needed within one month after planting. After about half a month, you can maintain it normally, and it will take root again soon.

When watering, you should control the amount and do not let water accumulate in the potting soil. Fertilize in moderation and do not apply high-concentration fertilizer to avoid burning the roots. Also, pay attention to preventing and controlling root rot.
