What to do if the roots of the cycads are rotten

Why does the root of the hyacinthus rot?

The soil does not meet the growth needs of the Oxeye Root. Although the soil requirements of the Oxyphylla are not very strict, it can grow well in ordinary culture soil. But one thing is that the soil must be loose, breathable and have good drainage. Otherwise, the roots of the Osmanthus fragrans will not be able to breathe properly, or there will be water accumulation in the pot, resulting in root rot.

Improper fertilization leads to root rot. Fertilizing the octopus requires skill. The fertilizer should not be too concentrated or excessive, so as to avoid fertilizer damage and root rot. It is generally better to apply fertilizer thinly and frequently. Stop fertilizing during the winter dormancy period. Because the root system grows slowly when the temperature is low, the applied fertilizer cannot be absorbed by the root system. Instead, it will hinder the normal absorption of the roots and cause root rot in severe cases.

Overwatering causes root rot. When the Oxyphylla is watered too much, the pot will be too moist and the roots will have difficulty breathing, which can easily lead to root rot.

When the roots of the Ophiopogon japonicus are rotten, the rotten parts must be cut off in time, leaving the healthy parts and re-grafting. Disinfect the wound, then place it in a cool and ventilated place to dry for 2 to 3 days, and then use sterilized clean sand and flower pots for cuttings.

Insert the measuring rod into the sand and water it thoroughly once. Then water it thoroughly when the soil is dry. Be careful not to let it get wet in the rain.

After re-grafting, the Olympia ciliata should be placed in a ventilated place and receive sufficient light. Just keep the temperature between 25 and 30 degrees Celsius and do not apply fertilizer. New roots will grow in about 30 to 40 days.

In normal times, we should pay attention to the daily maintenance of the Oxytropis oxypetalum, water and fertilize it reasonably, and pay attention to observe the growth condition of the Oxytropis oxypetalum to see if there is root rot or insect pests, so as to detect the lesions in time and take corresponding measures.
