How to deal with root rot of Epiphyllum

How to deal with root rot of Epiphyllum

Causes and symptoms

reason

There are several reasons why root rot occurs in Epiphyllum.

One is root rot caused by root rot. This may be caused by fungi or insects in the soil that corrode the roots, or by insects that eat the nutrients in the roots and bite the roots, causing the roots to become diseased and rot.

The second is improper daily management, such as too much watering, water accumulation in the pot, roots soaking in water for a long time, or poor ventilation and excessive air humidity in the growing environment, which can cause root rot.

Performance

The symptoms of root rot of Epiphyllum are generally as follows: the leaves gradually become wrinkled and curled, and the leaves turn yellow and fall off. In severe cases, part of the stems will rot, the heart of the leaves will rot, and the entire Epiphyllum cannot be saved.

what to do

Repotting and soil changing

If the roots of Epiphyllum are rotten, you can change the pot and soil. Remove the plant from the pot and soil, cut off the rotten roots, and wash the roots. Disinfect the diseased roots by soaking them in 0.1% to 0.2% potassium permanganate solution for 1 minute. After the wounds are dried, you can change the soil and repot them.

Before potting, the soil in the pot should also be disinfected to make sure there are no insect eggs or fungi. After potting, water it thoroughly. It is best to use the immersion method to water the plant. After the Epiphyllum is potted, it should be placed in a cool place for curing for a period of time. After the roots of the Epiphyllum are slowly grown, it can be cared for normally.

Drug treatment

Root rot of Epiphyllum can be treated with appropriate anthers. Pay attention to the proper dosage and spray it reasonably.

Cutting method

When the root rot of Epiphyllum can no longer be cured, you can consider cuttings and re-propagation.

When taking cuttings, remove the rotten parts, leaving healthy branches, trim them slightly, dry them in the sun for two or three days, and insert them into the prepared soil. When planting cuttings, plant them shallowly so they can take root more easily.
