What should I do if the iris does not bloom, drops leaves, or has root rot?

There are many reasons why the fairy dan flower does not bloom, or even sheds leaves and rots roots. The most important reason is that these key points are ignored during the maintenance process:

Gaza

In order for the plant to bloom normally, it is necessary to start from the seedlings. When planting, choose a flower pot with a large drainage hole at the bottom, spread a layer of coarse sand on the bottom to help drainage, choose acidic soil, and after watering, sprinkle a layer of fine sand on the soil surface of the seedlings. For potted plants grown outdoors, pay attention to drainage during the rainy season and keep the soil moist. If the soil is too dry or too wet, or if water is not supplied in time, leaves will fall.

Topping

The iris must be topped during its growth period to ensure that the plant has a round shape and to allow the plant to have as many branches as possible to increase the chance of flowering. After pinching, ensure sufficient air humidity, spray water on the leaves in time, keep the surrounding air fresh, and ventilate frequently.

Controlling temperature

The most suitable temperature for the growth of Ixora is 23~32℃. When the temperature is below 20℃, the growth of the plant will weaken and the flowering will decrease, but if there is sufficient sunlight, a small number of flower buds will still form. When the temperature is below 10℃, the growth of the plant will slow down. When the temperature is below 0℃, frost damage will occur and it will be difficult to bloom.

Apply fertilizer at the right time

The iris needs to be repotted and the soil changed once a year, and sufficient base fertilizer needs to be applied at this time. During the growing period, top dressing should be done 2 to 3 times.

During the flowering period, apply nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium fertilizers once a week. After autumn, move it to the greenhouse for maintenance, place it on the balcony to get more sunlight, and control watering. It can hibernate when the temperature is above 8℃.

When repotting in spring, cut the branches short to promote the sprouting of branches. It must be placed outdoors in the sun, not in the shade, so as not to hinder the growth of branches and vines and make it difficult to bloom.
