Causes and treatments for yellowing leaves of Silver Queen

Causes and treatments for yellowing leaves of Silver Queen

1. Overwatering

Reason: If you grow Silver Queen indoors, the space is not as open as outdoors, so the amount of water transpiration from the flowerpot and the plant surface will be reduced. At this time, if the amount of watering remains the same as outdoors, the roots will rot due to the wet soil in the pot, and the root system's ability to absorb water and nutrients will be reduced, and the leaf tips of the plant will wilt and turn yellow.

Solution: Stop watering immediately, loosen the soil, and let excess water evaporate as soon as possible. In daily maintenance, it is necessary to control watering reasonably and reduce the frequency and amount of watering. Water the plant when the soil in the pot is almost dry, and water it thoroughly at one time.

2. Soil compaction

Reason: If the pot is not changed or the soil is not loosened for a long time, the soil in the pot will become compacted. Compacted soil will restrict the natural growth of plant roots and reduce the roots' ability to absorb nutrients and water. If we do not change the potting soil for a long time, the growth of Silver Queen will become very slow, and even the leaves will turn yellow and wither.

Solution: At this time, you need to pour the Silver Queen out of the flowerpot, cut off the dead branches and leaves and necrotic roots, replace it with half of the new soil and replant it for maintenance. It needs to be kept in a cool, humid, semi-shaded environment, and it should be frequently sprayed with water to replenish moisture, and then it can be recovered.

3. Unsuitable environment

Reason: Silver Queen likes to grow in a semi-shady environment with moist air. If the air is dry, the sunlight is strong, and the temperature is above 30℃, it is easy for the tips of the Silver Queen leaves to turn yellow and dry.

Treatment: Silver Queen needs to be moved to a semi-shaded environment immediately and the dead leaves should be cut off. Then spray water and ventilate frequently, and the newly grown leaves will slowly return to normal. At the same time, in daily maintenance, try to keep the temperature constant and avoid fluctuating. The temperature must not be lower than 5 degrees, otherwise the plant will be frozen, causing it to stop growing and even die.
