How to fertilize lily

How to fertilize lily

1. Potted plants

If it is a potted plant, use rotten leaves, coarse sand and garden soil as the culture soil. You can also add burnt grass ash, animal feces, etc. The bottom of the pot should be filled with coarse sand for drainage. The flower pot should be deep and placed in a cool area.

2. Growth Stage

Add fertilizer two or three times 20 days after planting, and topdressing once every half a month during the growth period. Use synthetic fertilizer or decomposed liquid fertilizer. Do not use fertilizer containing fluorine or alkaline fertilizer, otherwise it will burn the leaves. If you are lacking in iron, you can spray ferrous sulfate. After fertilizing, the soil should be loosened to facilitate fertilizer absorption. It has a greater demand for nitrogen and potassium, and the amount of phosphorus fertilizer still needs to be controlled, because too much phosphorus fertilizer will make its leaves turn yellow. You can add some phosphorus fertilizer when it blooms.

3. Before and After Flowers

At this stage, spray potassium dihydrogen phosphate once every half a month. After the flowers are cut off, use one or two times of phosphorus and potassium quick-acting fertilizers. You can use rice washing water to water the roots, or use urea and special flower fertilizers twice a month. During the period from budding to flowering, add magnesium nitrate twice a month. No fertilizer is needed during flowering. After flowering, liquid fertilizer can be added twice a month to make the leaves greener and help the stems grow stronger.

4. Severe winter season

In the severe winter when the temperature is 5-8 degrees, you can apply fertilizer once a month. Once the temperature drops below 5 degrees, stop fertilizing and resume fertilizing after the temperature rises. Add eight to ten grams of bone meal to the edge of the pot from late February to early March.
