What to do if the leaves of the money tree turn yellow in spring

1. Increase the temperature

Reason: The temperature in spring is more suitable. But if a late spring cold snap occurs, the temperature will drop. This causes frostbite on the money tree and its leaves turn yellow.

Solution: Pay more attention to the weather conditions. If the temperature is low in the early morning or evening, you need to place the money tree in a warm place indoors. If the plant is not very large, you can cover it with a bag, which will have a certain warming effect.

2. Proper shade

Reason: The afternoon sunlight in late spring is quite strong, and the money tree should not be exposed to strong light, which can easily cause its leaves to turn yellow.

Solution: Place the money tree in semi-shade and allow it to receive appropriate diffuse light. In winter and spring, when the light is not strong, you can put it in a sunny place. Shade is needed in summer and autumn, not only to avoid being exposed to the sun, but also to prevent the temperature from being too high.

3. Reduce watering

Reason: The money tree has a certain degree of drought resistance and can grow normally with less watering. Watering too much will lead to oxygen deprivation in the roots, and may also breed bacteria that cause rot and yellowing of the leaves.

Solution: If there is still water in the basin, you need to drain the water first. Then take it out of the pot, cut off the rotten roots and replant it. The new potting soil should be a little drier. Don't water too much after replanting. Just keep the potting soil slightly moist.

4. Apply fertilizer in time

Reason: The money tree begins to resume growth in spring, so it is necessary to apply fertilizer in time. Insufficient nutrients will cause it to grow poorly and cause the leaves to turn yellow.

Solution: Usually yellow leaves are caused by nitrogen deficiency, but it is not advisable to apply fertilizer excessively, otherwise it will easily cause the plant to grow too tall. Nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium compound fertilizer is needed, and it should be diluted before application to avoid concentrated fertilizer damaging the roots.
