How to solve the problem of yellowing leaf tips of dragon beard orchid

How to solve the problem of yellowing leaf tips of dragon beard orchid

1. Increase lighting

Reason: The growth of dragon beard orchid cannot be separated from sufficient sunlight. Insufficient light will cause the plant to be unable to photosynthesize and the leaves will turn yellow.

Solution: Give it some light every day. Provide appropriate shade at noon to avoid strong sunlight that may damage the leaves. You can also place it in a place with scattered light, so that it can be exposed to light but will not be hurt by exposure to the sun.

2. Increase the temperature

Reason: As a southern plant, the dragon beard orchid is more suitable for growing in a warm environment. Low temperatures will cause its leaves to turn yellow.

Solution: The suitable temperature for Dragon Beard Orchid is around 20℃. The temperature should not be lower than 10℃ in winter. If the outdoor temperature is too low, it needs to be placed in a warm place indoors. If the indoor temperature is not up to standard, you can use plastic bags to keep it warm, and remember to take them off and ventilate every day.

3. Improve soil quality

Reason: Dragon Beard Orchid prefers acidic soil. Too high alkaline content in the soil will cause it to grow poorly and cause the leaves to turn yellow.

Solution: When planting or changing soil, use slightly acidic leaf mold. When watering daily, you can acidify it first by adding a little white vinegar or ferrous sulfate to the water. Then stir well or leave it for a few days before use. The concentration must not be too high, otherwise it will damage the roots.

4. Appropriate fertilization

Cause: Insufficient nutrients in the soil will cause the dragon beard orchid to develop poorly and the leaves to turn yellow.

Solution: Add an appropriate amount of base fertilizer when turning the soil. During the growing season, apply some foliar fertilizer. The amount of fertilizer should not be too large. It must be fully diluted before spraying, otherwise it will damage the leaves.
