What to do if the leaves of clematis turn black

What to do if the leaves of clematis turn black

1. Causes of black leaves

There are several possible reasons for this phenomenon. It may be that you watered too much, the roots rotted, and then the leaves turned black. It may also be that the light is too strong and burns the leaves, causing them to turn black. Another problem is that the fertilizer is too concentrated, which causes fertilizer damage and black leaves. It may also be due to poor ventilation, causing too much moisture to remain on the leaves and not dry, resulting in blackening. There are also diseases, such as "leaf blight", which causes the leaves to dry up and look black.

2. Solution

If the situation is not serious, then you can adjust the surroundings to a suitable environment and the situation will be alleviated. If the situation is serious, then the plant needs to be removed from the pot. Follow the steps below:

(1) First, cut off most of the branches, especially those with black leaves. Make sure to cut them cleanly.

(2) Then, pull the entire plant out of the soil and shake off the excess soil around the roots. It can be pruned appropriately, mainly removing the rotten parts. However, be careful not to damage the healthy parts of the roots, otherwise it will easily die.

(3) Then, prepare clean water and add the carbendazim solution. Dip the roots in it. After about an hour, take it out and let it dry.

(4) Prepare new soil. Also use carbendazim for disinfection. Keep it lightly watered and out of direct sunlight. The leaves that grow after that will not turn black.
