1. How to reproduceThere are two ways to propagate Epiphyllum: cuttings and sowing. For cutting propagation, you should choose strong leaf-like stems that are about twenty to thirty centimeters long. Then cut it into 2-3 sections, flatten the base, and insert it into the sand bed after the cut ends are dry. The soil should be kept moist and the temperature should be controlled at around 18 to 24 degrees Celsius. Roots will grow in about 20 days. Seed propagation is generally used in the form of hybrid breeding. The time required from sowing to flowering is relatively long, about four to five years, so cutting propagation is generally the main method. 2. When to water after plantingIt is necessary to water the cuttings after they are planted. You can water them immediately after they are planted. However, the amount of water should be controlled and not excessive, as too much water will affect its growth. After watering, you can slowly straighten the crooked branches. Be gentle when straightening to avoid damaging the newly grafted branches. You can also spray it with a fine spray. During this period, the soil layer should be kept moist, which is very helpful for its rooting and can make the roots grow faster and better. |
