How to preserve daffodil bulbs and how to choose daffodil bulbs

How to preserve daffodil bulbs and how to choose daffodil bulbs

1. Methods of bulb preservation

1. Store in a dry place: After the flowers wither, you can take out the bulbs, then cut off the dead flowers and leaves of the daffodils, remove the dry roots, and clean the soil on the surface. Then prepare a disinfectant solution, soak the daffodils in it for a while, then place them in a cool and ventilated place to dry the moisture on the surface of the bulbs. After the bulbs are dry, they can be wrapped in newspaper and stored in a low temperature and dry environment. This method is very commonly used and can be applied to both hydroponic and soil-grown bulbs.

2. Deep burial in the soil: For daffodils grown in soil, they can also be preserved by burying them deep in the soil. Apply enough base fertilizer to the soil, bury the bulbs deeply in fertile and loose soil, and after new leaves grow out, appropriate top dressing is needed.

2. How to choose

1. Observe the appearance: First observe the appearance of the bulbs, select daffodil bulbs with bright brown skin, and check whether there are any wounds on the surface or signs of decay. It should be larger in size, with clear and clean texture and obvious root system underneath.

2. Feel with your hands: You will feel the elasticity when you touch it. It is relatively full and substantial, and feels hard, not dry or shrunken.
