The difference between Dieffenbachia and Aglaonema

The difference between Dieffenbachia and Aglaonema

1. Different forms

The rhizome of evergreen is relatively thick. There are 3-6 leaves, which are completely green and dark in color. The longitudinal veins on them are obvious and protrude outwards. The leaves are smaller than the latter, about 15-50 cm long and about 2.5-7 cm wide.

The rhizome of Aspidistra is cylindrical and appears thinner than the former. The leaves are relatively large, and the overall color of both sides is green, but sometimes there are yellow-white stripes or spots.

2. Different flowers

The flowering period of the evergreen is from May to June. It produces spike-shaped inflorescences that are about 3-4 cm long. There are dozens of densely packed small flowers on them that are yellow-white in color.

The flowering period of Aspidistra is from March to April. It grows from the rhizome below in a rosette shape, and the flowers are purple.

3. Different varieties

Dieffenbachia is a common potted plant in homes. It is a perennial evergreen plant belonging to the Asparagaceae family and the Dieffenbachia genus. It is also called winter evergreen, red fruit Dieffenbachia, and open-throat sword.

Aspidistra is essentially different from it. It is not a plant, nor does it belong to a family. It is a plant of the Liliaceae family and the Aspidistra genus, also called Indocleaf, Liao Leaf, etc.
