Why are the leaves of Amaryllis turning yellow?

The reason why leaves turn yellow due to improper maintenance

Poor drainage or excessive moisture

Amaryllis likes moisture, but avoids waterlogging and excessive humidity. If potted plants are placed in poorly drained soil for a long time, the leaves will easily turn yellow.

Remedies

If you water too much, try to place the flower pot in a ventilated place, loosen the soil, and speed up the evaporation of water. If the situation is too serious, just change the soil directly!

Too much light

Amaryllis grows vigorously in the sun, but the light should not be too strong. Under the scorching sun in summer, the leaves will become scorched and yellow. At noon, the light is too strong and needs moderate shade.

Remedies

If the leaves have been burned, try to move the plant to a cool place, and move it to a sheltered outdoor place after a week. Do not fertilize or water too much, and the condition will gradually ease in about a month.

Improper fertilization

Applying too much fertilizer or uncomposted organic fertilizer, especially in a high temperature environment, will cause fertilizer damage and yellow leaves.

Remedies

The best way to avoid over-fertilization is to water, but not too much. Directly place the flower pot in water and rinse it a few times to reduce the concentration of fertilizer.

Diseases

The plant lives in a hot and humid environment, making it very susceptible to disease. Both leaf spot and leaf blight can cause leaves to turn yellow.

Remedies

Remove the yellow diseased leaves and spray them with carbendazim for disinfection.
