Chinese cabbage, also known as cauliflower and cauliflower, is a variant of Chinese cabbage . It is known as the "king of vegetables " and is very nutritious and flavorful, making it very popular. So when is the best time to plant Guangdong cabbage? Let’s learn more about it below. When is the best time to plant Guangdong choy sum? In Guangdong, Chinese cabbage can be cultivated all year round, but it is generally planted more in spring and autumn, usually in March in spring, or in August-September in autumn. If it is planted at these two times, its growth condition is best. How to grow Chinese cabbage? 1. Land preparation and fertilization When planting Chinese cabbage, try to avoid choosing land where related vegetables are planted continuously or repeatedly. It is better to choose land that is rich in organic matter and fertile, such as loam or sandy loam, and has convenient irrigation and drainage. Before sowing, remove the residues of the previous crop and whiten the soil according to weather conditions. Depending on the soil fertility, 5 to 15 kg of quicklime and about 100 kg of calcium magnesium phosphate fertilizer can be applied per mu of land, the land can be deep plowed and tilled, and finally 600 kg of composted chicken manure and 10 kg of high-nitrogen compound fertilizer can be applied. After fertilizing, turn the soil over and mix the fertilizer evenly to make ridges 1.2 to 1.3 meters wide. The ridge surface should not be too wide, otherwise it will be difficult to plant seedlings later. 2. Planting Prepare some fine sand that is about the same size as the cabbage seeds, mix them in a ratio of 5:1 by volume of sand to seeds, and then spread them evenly. In order to ensure uniform emergence of seedlings, sowing can be done in two batches. It can also be sown by machine, using a special seeder to adjust the sowing amount according to different sowing densities. Currently, most vegetable farmers use this method. After sowing, water thoroughly and then cover with a shade net. The seeds will hatch and emerge in 24 to 36 hours. When about 70% of the seeds have germinated and taken root, remove the shade net to prevent birds from eating the seeds. 3. Thinning and finalizing seedlings After emergence, when the seedlings have 1 to 2 true leaves, thin out the overcrowded seedlings; when they have 2 to 3 true leaves, apply a small amount of instant fertilizer and water; when they have 3 to 4 true leaves, thin out the seedlings. If they are machine-soaked, thin out the seedlings at one time. Early-maturing varieties are planted in summer with a row spacing of 6 to 10 cm, mid-maturing varieties have a row spacing of 8 to 10 cm, and late-maturing varieties are planted in winter with a row spacing of 5 to 6 cm. 4. Fertilizer and water management Generally, water the plant once a day on sunny days; in hot seasons, water the plant twice a day to keep the topsoil moist. In addition, avoid watering at noon, and it is better to water by spraying. During the entire growing period, apply 0.5% to 1% high-nitrogen quick-soluble compound fertilizer containing trace elements 2 to 3 times. After applying the fertilizer, rinse with clean water immediately. Stop applying fertilizer 1 week before harvest. That’s it |
