Purple bamboo, also known as black bamboo and black bamboo, belongs to the genus Phyllostachys of the subfamily Bambusoideae of the Poaceae family. The new stems are green, and the two-year-old stems gradually turn purple-black. It has a unique personality and high ornamental value. If you grow purple bamboo, how can you make it grow more vigorously? Let’s learn more about it below. 1. Site selection and land preparation Purple bamboo is very cold-resistant, but prefers a warm and humid climate. It is suitable for growing in acidic soil with an average annual temperature of 10~18℃ and an average annual rainfall of 800~1000mm. Purple bamboo likes fertilizer and has strict requirements on soil. Therefore, when choosing a site for purple bamboo afforestation , you should choose a hill, valley slope or gentle slope that is sheltered from the wind, sunny, and has convenient drainage and irrigation. The soil should be deep, rich in nutrients, and slightly acidic or neutral. The soil that is unsuitable for planting can be improved. 2. Reasonable planting After digging up the mother bamboo, cut it obliquely at 1.0~1.5m from the stalk. Transplanting is carried out according to the dense planting method, with a planting density of 1400~1700 plants/hm2, 2~3 plants per clump. Before transplanting, apply fully decomposed high-quality organic fertilizer into the cultivation trough, 4 to 8 kg per trough, cover with a layer of crushed soil, and then place the mother bamboo in the cultivation trough. When covering the soil, make sure that the middle of the seedling trunk is high, the surroundings are low, and the outer periphery of the cultivation trough is high. Fill the soil and compact it at the same time. In this way, the mother bamboo is not prone to water accumulation and root rot due to its high terrain. The low surroundings are convenient for water storage and drought prevention, and the high outer periphery of the cultivation trough can prevent soil and water loss in the trough. 3. Watering management After transplanting the purple bamboo, if there is drought, water it in time to keep the soil moist; if there is continuous rainy weather, drain the water in time to prevent the roots of the purple bamboo from rotting. 4. Fertilization management After the purple bamboo is transplanted and survives, apply 0.15kg of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium triple compound fertilizer (15-15-15) to each cultivation trough. In the second year, apply 0.15kg of urea to each cultivation trough 30-40 days before bamboo shoots emerge, apply 0.2kg of urea to each cultivation trough during the peak growth period, and apply 0.3kg of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium triple compound fertilizer (15-15-15) to each cultivation trough when bamboo whips are forming. After winter, apply 10kg of organic fertilizer to each cultivation trough, and turn the soil once after fertilization to promote the growth of bamboo whips. 5. Forest management After the new bamboo leaves unfold, promptly cut (beat) off the lower 3 to 6 branches and thin out some of the dense branches to keep the height under the branches at 1.5 to 2.0 meters. This will facilitate ventilation and light, prevent snow pressure and vine entanglement, and make the bamboo stalks straighten and turn black quickly. In heavy snow weather, snow should be shaken manually in time to prevent the snow from crushing the bamboo stalks. If weeds are found, remove them promptly to prevent them from competing with bamboo roots for nutrients. That’s it |
