Spring planting usually takes place between February and April, while autumn planting takes place between August and September, although it may be a little later in the southern regions. Therefore, although green beans are grown in a specific season, their harvest and availability may be made available in markets during non-traditional seasons through modern agricultural techniques such as greenhouse cultivation. Conditions for growing green beans

Soil conditions: Green beans are suitable for cultivation in deep, loose, humus-rich and well-drained soil. It can grow in sandy loam, loam and general clay, but it is not suitable for cultivation in low-lying wetlands or heavy clay. The suitable pH value of the soil is 6-7, which should not be too acidic or too alkaline.

Temperature conditions: Green beans prefer a warm environment and cannot tolerate frost. The temperature range for seed germination is 20-30℃, and it will not germinate below 10℃ or above 40℃. Seedlings are sensitive to temperature changes. They begin to lose green color if they are exposed to low temperatures of 2-3℃ for a short period of time, and are easily affected by frost at 0℃.

Light conditions: Green beans are short-day plants, but different varieties respond differently to the photoperiod and can be divided into photoperiod-sensitive, photoperiod-insensitive and moderately photoperiod-sensitive types.

Water conditions: Green beans have a well-developed root system and many lateral roots. They are more drought-resistant but not water-resistant. Seeds need to absorb sufficient water to germinate, but when there is too much water and the soil lacks oxygen, the seeds will easily rot. The suitable field water holding capacity during the plant growth period is 60%-70% of the maximum water holding capacity. The water requirements during the flowering period are strict, and the suitable relative air humidity is 65%-80%.

Fertilization conditions: Green beans have greater demands for nitrogen and potassium fertilizers and less demand for phosphorus fertilizers. When applying fertilizer, use nitrogen and potassium fertilizers mainly, and high-quality farmyard manure as the base fertilizer. Top dressing can be combined with watering.

Pest and disease control: Common diseases of green beans include root rot and rust, and the main insect pests are pod borer and fall armyworm. The approach of focusing on prevention and combining prevention and control should be adopted, and appropriate pesticides should be used for prevention and control.

In general, green beans are a very popular vegetable and have always had good market demand. Many people love to eat green beans in various ways, but they still need to be planted in accordance with the actual environment.
