Southern grape planting and management

Southern grape planting and management

Grapes are fruits with very high nutritional value, sweet taste and high edible value. They are very popular in the southern region and are grown in many areas. Below I will introduce to you the planting and management of grapes in the south.

1. Choose the variety

The climatic conditions in the south are different from those in the north, so it is necessary to choose grape varieties suitable for growing in the south. Common southern grape varieties include Kyoho, Summer Black, Red Fuji, Early Black Bao, etc. These varieties grow well in the south and have high yield and good quality.

2. Planting time

Grapes can be planted in spring and autumn, but the survival rate of grapes planted in autumn is higher. The planting density of grapes is generally 100-150 plants per acre, and the specific density depends on the variety and soil conditions.

3. Fertilization

Grapes require a lot of nutrients to grow, and fertilization is a key measure to improve grape yield and quality. Generally speaking, fertilizer is applied three times a year, before budding in spring, after fruit harvest, and before leaf fall in autumn.

4. Watering

Grapes need sufficient water. Spring and summer are the critical periods for grape growth, and they should be watered once a week.

5. Pruning

Grape pruning is an important measure to improve yield and quality. Generally speaking, pruning is done once a year in winter to cut off old and diseased branches and promote the growth of new branches.

6. Pest and disease control

The climatic conditions in the southern region are suitable for the growth of diseases and pests, so prevention and control should be strengthened. During the growth of grapes, pesticides should be sprayed regularly to prevent the occurrence of diseases and pests. At the same time, we must strengthen cultivation management and improve the disease resistance of grapes.

7. Harvest

Grapes are generally harvested in autumn, and the harvest time is determined according to the variety and maturity. When harvesting, pick and place the fruits gently to avoid damaging them. Pay attention to the control of temperature and humidity during storage, keep the room well ventilated, and avoid fruit rotting.
