How to grow bougainvillea at home, pruning method diagram

1. Family Raising Method

1. Light: Bougainvillea is a light-loving plant and should be placed in a place with sufficient light during normal maintenance. Especially in winter, because the temperature is low during the winter, if there is no sunlight, it is very likely to be frozen.

2. Watering: It likes water, so sufficient moisture in the soil will make it grow better. Watering should be done only when the soil is dry. Watering should be reduced after flowering. Generally, watering can be done once every two days in spring and autumn.

3. Fertilization: Apply enough base fertilizer when planting. Apply cake fertilizer water once a week after leaving the house. Apply less fertilizer in autumn. Before flowering, phosphorus and potassium fertilizers should be applied to promote the formation of flower buds and facilitate flowering.

4. Temperature: The maintenance temperature should be adjusted properly. 20-30℃ is the temperature range suitable for its growth. It needs to be brought indoors during the winter and the temperature should be controlled at 10-15℃. Under the lowest condition, it should not be lower than 3℃.

2. Pruning method

During the growing period of Bougainvillea, it is necessary to pinch the top of the plants to help the growth of side branches. Pruning can be done in spring or after the flowering period. Generally, it is necessary to cut off the crossing branches, diseased branches, dry branches, and branches that grow too densely. Cutting off the branches that grow poorly can encourage the plant to grow new branches. After the flowering period, timely pruning should be carried out to remove the remaining flowers. You can also trim and shape it at ordinary times, such as making it into a flower basket or pistil.
