Why doesn't the Kalanchoe bloom?

Why doesn't the Kalanchoe bloom?

1. The flower pot is too big

Reason: The larger the flowerpot, the freer the plant roots can grow, consuming a large amount of nutrients, resulting in sparse and narrow leaves and fewer or no flowers.

Solution: Transplant the plant into a pot of suitable size and maintain it with appropriate light and water.

2. Lack of fertility

Reason: Kalanchoe is a fertilizer-loving plant and requires more nutrients. If no fertilizer is applied, the flower buds will differentiate slowly and will be difficult to grow. Solution: From the frost to October of the following year is the flower bud differentiation period of Kalanchoe, and fertilizer needs to be supplemented. Apply fish fertilizer mainly composed of phosphorus and potassium once a week, and apply nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium fertilizer once a month.

3. Temperature discomfort

Reason: This flower is native to Africa and prefers a warm and humid environment. If the temperature is higher than 24°C during the winter and spring flowering season, it will inhibit flowering. If the temperature is lower than 5°C, the flowering period will be delayed.

Solution: Keep it at 15-25℃ during growth. The indoor temperature in winter should be 12-15℃ and cannot be lower than 5℃. If the temperature is around 15℃ in winter, the flowers can be guaranteed to bloom continuously.

4. Inappropriate lighting

Cause: Strong sunlight exposure or insufficient light can cause the plant to wilt and reduce flowering.

Solution: Kalanchoe likes sunlight, so place it in a well-lit place such as a balcony. Ensure 4 hours of sunlight a day and even lighting. Also avoid strong light.
