How to grow lucky bamboo well?

With its lush green leaves and lush branches, lucky bamboo has become a versatile choice for interior decoration. No matter where it is placed, it can add a touch of vitality. It is very easy to care for lucky bamboo. Just put it in a bottle of water and it will take root and grow on its own without the need for soil or a flowerpot. Lucky bamboo is not only beautiful, but also symbolizes wealth and peace. It is a green plant with auspicious meaning in the home. So how to grow lucky bamboo well?

1. Pruning to promote rooting

The bottom of the purchased lucky bamboo is usually coated with wax to prevent moisture loss during transportation. After returning home, the wax at the bottom should be scraped off to form an oblique edge to increase the contact area with water and promote the absorption of water and nutrients. Note that the roots of lucky bamboo grow from the nodes, not the wounds. Trimming the bottom leaves and retaining the top leaves can help reduce nutrient consumption, making the plant more beautiful and easier to root.

2. Buy in the right season

Lucky bamboo is sensitive to temperature, and the best purchasing temperature should be above 15 degrees Celsius. It is not suitable to buy it in winter when the temperature is low, so as not to affect rooting and growth. The ideal temperature range for lucky bamboo growth is 15 to 30 degrees Celsius. Too high or too low will affect its growth rate.

3. Apply fertilizer appropriately

Hydroponic lucky bamboo requires regular nutrient supplementation. Adding a few drops of hydroponic plant nutrient solution or water-soluble fertilizer diluted at one thousandth ratio every month will help the leaves stay green. Avoid over-fertilization, which can cause root burn. Lucky bamboo prefers an acidic environment. You can add a drop of chelated iron every month to adjust the water quality and maintain the color of the leaves.

4. Suitable lighting

Lucky bamboo is suitable for diffuse light, avoid direct sunlight to prevent sunburn of the leaves. Strong light not only damages the leaves, it may also affect root growth, causing yellow leaves and dry tips. If you want lucky bamboo to grow taller, you should consider soil cultivation, because the nutrients in water culture are limited. In suitable soil, lucky bamboo can grow to two meters in height and even bloom, adding a fairy-like aura.

If you master the above-mentioned management points of lucky bamboo, it will be much easier to grow it. Do you have any other tips for caring for lucky bamboo?
