Cutting propagation methods and precautions for Chlorophytum

Chlorophytum comosum propagation method

Chlorophytum can be propagated by cuttings, division, sowing and other methods. It generally uses cuttings or sowing for propagation because these two methods are simpler and faster, and the yield using these two methods is also relatively high.

Cutting is the simplest method of propagation for Chlorophytum comosum, and it can be done at any time from spring to autumn.

Chlorophytum cutting propagation method

1. First of all, if you want to complete cutting propagation, you must first prepare a pot of healthy spider plant, and then gently pinch off the small spider plant on the creeping stem.

2. Then prepare a suitable flower pot. It doesn’t need to be too big, otherwise water will easily accumulate and it will be difficult to take care of.

3. Chlorophytum has high requirements for soil. Usually fertile soil is best. Of course, you can also choose garden soil with coal slag and leaf mold.

4. It is best to insert the cut small buds into the soil. There is no need to bury them too deep to ensure that the leaves are above the soil surface.

Precautions for propagation of Chlorophytum by cuttings

Chlorophytum has high requirements for soil, usually fertile soil is the best. You can choose garden soil with coal slag and leaf humus. Coal slag increases air permeability and has no nutritional fertility. Leaf humus is nutritious.
