Passion fruit is a famous juice-type tropical fruit , which is increasingly popular among people because of its rich nutrients and unique taste. But in order to ensure its freshness, it is very important to store the passion fruit properly. So how to store passion fruit? Let’s learn more about it below. 1. Home Storage 1. Store in a ventilated place Put the passion fruit you bought into a breathable basket and store it in a ventilated and cool place in the aisle. This method can preserve passion fruit for about a week. 2. Refrigerator Wrap the passion fruits individually with plastic wrap, tie them up and put them in the refrigerator to keep them fresh. When you want to eat it, just take it out and thaw it. This method of refrigerating passion fruit can store it longer than at room temperature, usually about two weeks. 3. Make processed products It can generally be processed into passion fruit foods, such as passion fruit jam and so on. Just like making other jams, wash the passion fruit, cut it in half, scoop out the pulp with a spoon, add white sugar and mix well. Put it in the refrigerator for 2 hours, take it out and pour it into a stainless steel pot to heat and boil. Then heat on low heat while stirring until the color becomes darker and the juice is thick. Put it into canning bottles and seal them while it is hot. After cooling, put them in the refrigerator. This way, the shelf life can reach more than one year. 2. Post-harvest storage 1. Low temperature storage Low temperature storage is the use of low temperature technology to lower the temperature of fruits and vegetables after harvest and maintain them at a low temperature, thereby reducing the respiratory efficiency of fruits and vegetables and inhibiting the growth and reproduction of microorganisms, thereby extending the shelf life of fruits and vegetables. Usually, passion fruit can be stored in a cold storage, making sure the temperature is maintained at around 8-10°C, which is the optimal storage temperature for passion fruit. At the same time, the relative humidity should be maintained at around 85% to prevent the passion fruit from drying out and rotting. 2. Controlled atmosphere storage The basic principle of controlled atmosphere storage is to change the composition of the storage gas in a certain closed system to inhibit the physiological and biochemical processes and microbial activities that cause food spoilage, thereby extending the storage life and shelf life of food. Generally, you can choose high-quality, ripe passion fruit, put it into a controlled atmosphere storage bag, and extract the gas in the controlled atmosphere storage bag to create a low-oxygen environment in the bag. Then seal the controlled atmosphere fresh-keeping bag and store it in a cool and ventilated place. In general, there are many ways to store passion fruit. It depends on your storage needs, and then you can choose the method that suits you. However, during the storage period, you must pay attention to the control of storage conditions such as temperature and humidity to achieve the purpose of safe storage.
