How to propagate and manage honeysuckle

How to propagate and manage honeysuckle

1. How to reproduce

1. Seed propagation: Generally, sowing is carried out in April every year. When sowing, soak the seeds in warm water for 24 hours, and then move them to wet sand for germination. Proper germination can speed up the emergence of seeds. The planting method is very simple. Dig furrows and sow seeds at a row spacing of 20-22 cm, and cover with a thin layer of soil after planting. During this period, water should be sprayed every two or three days. Seedlings will emerge in about ten days and can be transplanted in autumn or the spring of the second year.

2. Cutting propagation: Cutting propagation is more commonly used and can be carried out in all seasons. It is recommended to choose spring and autumn. Choose branches grown that year as cuttings and cut them into 10-15 cm long sections. Prepare a highly loose substrate and then insert the cuttings into the soil. Be careful not to bury the cuttings too deep in the soil; about half of the cuttings will be enough. After planting, water it thoroughly and keep it in a semi-shaded and ventilated place. New roots will grow soon.

2. How to manage

Its demand for water and nutrients is relatively high during the seedling stage, so it is necessary to water it frequently and fertilize it regularly during management. The soil should be moist, neither lacking water nor accumulating water. Pay attention to drainage during the rainy season. Fertilization should be done once every half a month so that the plant can grow vigorously with sufficient nutrients. In addition, it loves light, and if you want it to grow vigorously, it cannot do without light. It should be exposed to light more often, and should be shielded from the scorching sun in summer, and not exposed to direct sunlight.
