How to grow bell peppers

How to grow bell peppers

1. Maintenance methods

1. Temperature: Sweet peppers prefer a warm growing environment. Both high temperature and cold weather will have a certain impact on them. The normal growth temperature is between 22 and 30 degrees. They cannot spend the winter outdoors. They must keep warm, otherwise they will easily get frostbite. The night temperature should be kept between 16 and 20 degrees as much as possible to avoid frostbite.

2. Watering: Sweet peppers are not very resistant to floods and droughts, so the amount of watering must be strictly controlled. In summer, the dryness and wetness of the soil must be observed at all times, and water must be added almost every day. In winter, wait until the soil becomes dry before watering.

3. Light: Sweet peppers do not have high requirements for light. Warm sunlight is the most suitable. Sweet peppers are short-day plants. They cannot be exposed to strong light in the summer and cannot accept full sunlight. If the light is not enough, the flesh of the fruit will become thinner, so pay attention to the appropriate light exposure time.

4. Fertilization: It is a fertilizer-loving plant. Fertile soil can make the branches and leaves of the plants grow denser and greener. Nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium fertilizers can be used in combination to achieve the goal of balanced nutrition.

2. Breeding techniques

1. Reproduction: Sowing is the main method. Spring sowing can be carried out from February to April, and autumn sowing can be carried out from August to October. However, the temperature must be maintained between ten and fifteen degrees and not lower than ten degrees, otherwise flowering will be delayed or growth will be slow.

2. Pruning: Pruning of bell peppers is very important because its branching ability is relatively strong. In the spring, many side branches will grow, so some worthless side branches need to be pruned. This can ensure that the nutrients of the plant are not lost and that it can bear fruit normally.

3. Problem diagnosis and treatment

1. Disease: Black spot disease appears in summer. This disease will cause some small black pits to appear on the fruit, so it is necessary to use some antibacterial agents in time to control it.

2. Pests: Aphids will occur, which will seriously affect the ripening of the fruit. You can spray wettable powder to control it.

IV. Other issues

1. Toxicity: Non-toxic. It has high nutritional value and can supplement vitamins.

2. Can it be raised at home? Yes, but you must change the pot frequently, and also pay attention to ventilation and light.
