How to plant orchids (introduction to planting methods)

1. Sowing method

Choosing a pot: For planting orchids, you can choose a relatively tall ceramic pot with drainage holes to ensure a certain level of water retention and air permeability. And use clean foam or large-grained sand and gravel to pad the basin. Then fill the pot with soil prepared with fine sand and culture soil in a ratio of 1:1.

Seed soaking: Soak the seeds taken from the fruit that has not yet cracked in sodium chlorate solution for seven or eight minutes. Then take it out and wash it with clean water, then wrap the seeds with clean toilet paper to absorb the moisture, and place it in the sun to dry.

Sowing: Sprinkle the dried seeds evenly on the surface of the potting soil, then cover it with a thin layer of soil and pour some water to moisten the potting soil.

Maintenance: Place it in a well-ventilated place with scattered light and keep the temperature around 25 degrees Celsius. Then wrap the flowerpot with a plastic bag to keep it warm, and poke a few small holes in it to allow the seeds to breathe. It usually takes four to six months for orchid seeds to germinate, so just be patient and wait.

2. Division method

When planting orchids by division, you need to stop watering in advance and allow the soil in the pot to dry out. Then carefully take the orchid out of the original pot, remove the old soil, comb the root system, find the division point, and cut them separately with sterilized scissors. After division, cut off the old, bad roots and diseased leaves of the plant, spray fungicide on each wound for sterilization and disinfection, and place in a cool place to dry. After drying, plant them in pots with three to five plants per pot.
