Cuckoo breeding methods and techniques

Azalea is a very beautiful New Year flower, with clusters of flowers blooming, which is very beautiful. Rhododendrons are beautiful but difficult to grow, so many people cannot grow them well. Here are some methods and techniques for growing rhododendrons .

1. Soil

The soil for growing azaleas should be loose, breathable, well-drained and slightly acidic. Azaleas have hair roots and are not very absorbent, so the soil must be well-drained. Its soil is made of leaf mold, peat soil, perlite and a small amount of garden soil in a ratio of 1:1:0.5. The soil should be changed once a year because the main source of nutrition for azaleas comes from the soil.

2. Flower Pots

Azalea is a shallow-rooted flower . When planting it in a pot , it is recommended to choose a short pot. Ceramic pots with good air permeability are preferred. Deep pots are prohibited. Deep pots can easily cause roots to become suffocated, and watering is difficult to control. Especially for novice flower lovers, using shallow pots can greatly reduce the probability of root suffocation.

3. Lighting

The suitable growth temperature for azalea is between 15 and 25 degrees. Azalea should be maintained with scattered light at ordinary times. It can be given full sun when the temperature is below 20 degrees. It needs proper shade when the temperature exceeds 20 degrees. The strong sunlight in summer can cause sunburn or even death of the plant. It should be placed in a cool and ventilated place for maintenance in the hot summer.

4. Watering

Rhododendrons like a humid environment, but not waterlogging, because rhododendrons have capillary roots. If there is drought or waterlogging, the capillary roots will be damaged, causing withering. When caring for azaleas, water them when the soil is dry. Water when the surface is dry. Water thoroughly each time. Avoid watering in a fixed amount or watering halfway. When watering, you can add a small amount of vinegar or ferrous sulfate to keep the soil acidic.

5. Fertilization

Rhododendron does not require much fertilizer . General fertilizer can be used during the growing period. After flowering, general growth fertilizer can be applied once every 15 days, and slow-release fertilizer can be applied once every 3 months. In autumn, phosphorus and potassium fertilizers should be added. Potassium dihydrogen phosphate fertilizer can be irrigated at the roots once every 10 days to promote flower bud differentiation and strengthen the root system.

6. Pruning

Rhododendrons sprout new buds quickly during their growth period. In order to ensure ventilation, they need to be pruned frequently, and overcrowded areas need to be thinned out. Overgrown branches, weak branches, diseased branches, and dead branches should all be pruned away.

7. Temperature

Rhododendrons are relatively cold-resistant but not very heat-resistant. They can overwinter outdoors in most areas in winter, but when the outdoor temperature is very low, rhododendrons will grow slowly or stop growing. If you want the rhododendrons to bloom early in winter, it is recommended to maintain them on the indoor balcony in winter and keep them warm. The flowering period can be advanced to the Spring Festival.
