What vegetables can be grown in December?

As the end of the year approaches, many friends begin to consider growing some vegetables at home. Although temperatures are gradually dropping, in some areas, climatic conditions remain mild and the ground has not yet frozen, making it suitable for growing a variety of vegetables. Let’s learn in detail what vegetables can be planted in December?

1. Cauliflower

Cauliflower is a semi-cold-resistant crop and can be planted in December. The sowing period for spring seedlings is generally from December to January of the following year. If the seedlings are raised too late, it will affect the time to market.

2. Lettuce

Lettuce is a highly adaptable vegetable that can be grown all year round. It has strong cold resistance, likes cool climate, avoids high temperature, and is slightly resistant to frost. The suitable temperature for seed germination is 15℃~20℃, and the seedlings can withstand low temperatures of -5℃~-6℃. December is a good month to plant lettuce.

3. Cabbage

Cabbage is both heat-resistant and cold-resistant and grows very fast, so it can be planted at any time of the year. In northern regions, winter is suitable for growing cabbage in greenhouses . In addition, cabbage can be sown from late June to early August and harvested from October to February of the following year. In order to meet market demand and increase vegetable farmers' income, the sowing period can be delayed to December and the harvesting period can be postponed to early to mid-April of the following year.

4. Garlic sprouts

Also known as green garlic, it is extremely cold-resistant and suitable for planting in December.

5. Mustard

6. Spinach

It can be planted all year round, is rich in nutrients, grows rapidly, has strong adaptability to the environment and is cold-resistant.

The above is an introduction to some vegetable varieties that are suitable for planting in December. Whether they can be planted depends on the local environment.
