How to prune Fraxinus chinensis

When to prune Fraxinus chinensis

There is no fixed time for pruning Fraxinus chinensis. Generally, you can prune it at any time. If it is still growing embryos, do not prune it.

How to prune the branches of Fraxinus chinensis

Growing period : Pruning of ash trees is usually done at the beginning of autumn when the branches grow to 40 cm, leaving two clustered branches and pinching the tips. Pruning starts with the upper branches, then wait for half a month before pruning the middle branches, and then prune the lower branches after a week. Prune the upper thick branches first, then prune the weak branches.

Dormant period : The fraxinus chinensis enters a dormant period after the frost. At this time, the branches that affect the shape should be lightly pruned. The opposite branches should be staggered on the first and second level branches. The frog-leg branches can be shortened while growing longer.

Pruning makes growth faster: When the ash seedlings grow to a size suitable for pruning, the tops should be topped and pinched to inhibit the growth of upper branches and allow the uninjured branches below to grow and thicken.

Precautions for pruning white ash

When pruning the ash tree, you need to do it all at once and do not prune it multiple times, otherwise it will damage the plant and affect its growth.
