How to plant grapes in the north? When to plant grapes in the north

1. How many months to plant

Grapes in the north can be planted in spring or autumn, but it is recommended to plant them in autumn, specifically between October and November each year, before the soil freezes. Planting in autumn takes longer for the seedlings to grow, which is more conducive to later flowering and fruiting. If you choose to plant in spring, the seedlings are prone to sap flow, which is not conducive to the subsequent growth recovery.

2. How to plant

1. Prepare fertile soil: Grape seedlings like to grow in sandy soil with good air permeability, so choose a suitable plot of land. The depth of the soil layer should be more than 60 cm, which is more conducive to the later root growth. Before planting, deep plowing and tillage the land, and apply decomposed organic fertilizer to increase nutrients.

2. Digging treatment: When digging holes, the spacing between rows and plants should be controlled well. The row spacing should be between 2-3 meters, and the plant spacing should be between 0.5-0.8 meters. The seedlings need to be processed before being planted in the soil. The roots that grow too long should be cut short to a length of 20-30 cm. After processing, soak it in clean water for a day to allow it to absorb enough moisture.

3. Planting in the soil: After digging the holes and preparing the seedlings, you can plant them. Place the seedling in the hole and allow its roots to spread out, then carefully fill in the soil and compact it so that its roots can integrate with the soil. After planting, water it thoroughly as soon as possible and cover it with a film to keep it warm and moist, which can increase the possibility of survival.
