What is Sea Holly?

1. Plants

Sea holly is a biennial or perennial herb, about 11 to 40 cm tall, with a spindle-shaped taproot and an upright, green, relatively thick stem without villi, and with several grooves on the stem.

2. Leaves

The leaves of the Saker Falcon are basal, lanceolate or oblanceolate, undivided, leathery, about 5 to 25 cm long and 1.2 to 4 cm wide. The apex of the leaves is obtuse, the base gradually narrows, the edges have bony sharp serrations, the surface is dark green, the back is light green, both sides are glabrous, the petiole is short, and the base has a sheath that can reach up to 3 cm.

3. Flowers

The inflorescence head grows at the bifurcation of the stem and on the short branches of the upper branches. It is cylindrical, 0.5 to 1.2 cm long and 3 to 5 mm wide, without peduncles. The bracts are 1.5 to 3.5 cm long and about 4 to 10 mm wide, leaf-like, lanceolate, and the petals are 0.5 to 1 mm in color, white, light yellow or grass green.
