1. Reproduction methodThe propagation method of okra is relatively simple and can only be done by sowing. The main reason why cuttings, grafting and other methods of propagation are rarely used is that the survival rate is relatively low. Not only can sowing be carried out on a large scale and can certainly be used in home potted plants, it is also relatively easy to operate. 2. Sowing timeOkra is an annual herb that can only be sown in spring. This is not only because the temperature in spring is suitable for the growth of the plant, but also because it requires a longer growth cycle. If sown in other seasons, the plant may experience a low temperature environment, which is very unfavorable for its development. It usually takes place in February in the south and in May in the north. 3. Seed Soaking and GerminationBefore sowing okra, you must first germinate it by soaking the seeds. Soak its seeds in water for more than 12 hours, take them out and wrap them with wet cloth, then put them in a place with 25-30℃, and they will generally germinate in 24 hours. And you don't have to wait until all the seeds germinate before sowing them. As long as 60-70% of the seeds show signs of germination, you can sow them. 4. Land preparation and fertilizationThe soil for planting okra must be leveled first, then deeply plowed, and then sufficient base fertilizer is applied. Fertilizers generally use decomposed organic fertilizers, combined with a small amount of compound fertilizers, which can provide more comprehensive nutrition. After fertilizing, the soil needs to be prepared for sowing. 5. SowingOkra is usually sown in holes, with three seeds planted in each hole. First water it a little, then sow the seeds in it and cover it with 2 cm of soil. After sowing, the soil should be kept moist, which is more conducive to the growth of seedlings. After the leaves grow, appropriate top dressing should be applied. |
